Classic Curly Tail Worm for Finesse Fishing
The DB Curly Tail 4" is a customer-designed finesse worm that combines a slender profile with an active curly tail for maximum fish-attracting action. This versatile soft plastic worm is deadly on largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, trout, and panfish in any fishing situation.
Key Features:
- Active Curly Tail: Creates constant vibration and movement that triggers strikes from finicky fish
- Perfect 4" Length: Ideal finesse size for drop shot, Carolina rig, split shot, and jig trailers
- Slender Profile: Natural worm shape that fish can't resist, especially in clear water
- Versatile Rigging: Works with drop shot, Carolina rig, Texas rig, split shot, and as a jig trailer
- Multi-Species Appeal: Catches bass, trout, crappie, perch, and panfish
- Durable Construction: Soft yet tough plastic withstands multiple fish catches
- 8-Pack Value: Perfect quantity for a full day of finesse fishing
Rigging Techniques:
Drop Shot Rig: The #1 technique for this worm. Use a #1 or #2 drop shot hook, 6-12" leader, and 1/4 to 3/8 oz weight. Shake it in place or drag slowly along the bottom.
Carolina Rig: Thread onto a 1/0 or 2/0 offset hook behind a 1/2 to 3/4 oz egg sinker. Drag across rocky bottoms and ledges for suspended bass.
Split Shot Rig: Hook on a #1 or #2 hook with a split shot 12-18" above. Perfect for trout fishing in streams and rivers.
Jig Trailer: Add to a 1/4 to 3/8 oz finesse jig for extra action and profile. Deadly on smallmouth bass.
Texas Rig: Pair with a 1/0 or 2/0 offset worm hook and optional 1/8 oz bullet weight for light cover fishing.
Best Fishing Situations:
- Clear water finesse presentations for pressured bass
- Drop shotting deep structure, ledges, and brush piles
- Trout fishing in streams, rivers, and stocked ponds
- Crappie and panfish around docks and brush
- Post-frontal tough bite conditions
- Sight fishing to bedding bass
- Cold water fishing when fish are lethargic
Target Species: Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Crappie, Perch, Bluegill, Panfish
Pro Tip: When drop shotting, use a subtle shake-shake-pause cadence. The curly tail will continue working even when you pause, triggering strikes from fish that are watching but not committing.
Color Selection: Natural colors (green pumpkin, watermelon) excel in clear water. Use darker colors (black, purple) in stained water or low light. Bright colors (chartreuse, pink) work great for trout and panfish.
